The OMG Tour comes hot on the heels of Usher’s current pop chart smash, “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love,” from his recent release Versus, an extension of his platinum sixth studio album, Raymond V. Raymond. The record debuted at No.1 on the Pop and R&B albums charts, and spawned five hit singles including “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home),” “Lil Freak” featuring Nicki Minaj, “There Goes My Baby” and “OMG” featuring will.i.am. Usher recently performed at the MTV 2010 Video Music Awards on September 12th.
Songbook Entertainment/Atlantic recording artist Trey Songz has made the transition from rapidly rising young artist to bonafide R&B superstar. 2009′s RIAA gold-certified smash, Ready, was a true breakthrough that gave Trey his first-ever Billboard 200 Top Ten debut and received a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Contemporary R&B Album.” The hugely anticipated September 14th release of Songz’ Passion, Pain & Pleasure-with the bouncy first single “Bottoms Up (Feat. Nicki Minaj)” and “the soulful “Can’t Be Friends”-finds the Virginia-based R&B superstar energized and evolving as he continues to refine his mastery of sultry, soulful songcraft. After teasing fans with rumors of a tour with Chris Brown (and said rumors were subsequently put to rest), Usher has settled on a supporting act for his “OMG Tour.” Last night at the VMAs, Trey Songz announced that he would be joining Ush on the road.
“It’s an absolute honor for myself to go on tour with him this fall,” said Songz while introducing Usher’s futuristic performanceof “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” and “OMG” with Ke$ha.
Mr. Raymond was rumored to hit the road with labelmate Chris Brown before the “Deuces” singer squashed all the talk. “At first we was talking about it, but I think maybe it’s something in the future,” he said. “But right now, I’m gonna do the whole Chris Breezy thing.”
Usher’s “OMG Tour” kicks off Nov. 10 at Seattle’s KeyArena and is scheduled to conclude in December. It is currently unknown whether Trey Songz will appear on all dates.
Songz’ own “Passion, Pain & Pleasure Tour” with Monica is set to wrap this week in New York City. This would be his third tour of the year, following a stint on Jay-Z’s “Blueprint 3” outing.
