Usher Concert Ticket Giveaway for Youth Leaders!

Calling all youth ready to serve their community! From now until June 27th you have a chance to score free concert tickets to see Usher at Summerfest in Milwaukee on June 30th. That’s right! The New Look Foundation is giving away tickets and other great prizes to youth leaders.

All you have to do to qualify for tickets is plan and finish a service project between now and the concert and be between the ages of 12 and 25. There are three easy steps to enter this contest:

STEP 1. Plan a youth-led service project!
STEP 2. Do your project! Photograph or video your work. Include some mention/image of “Powered By Service.”
STEP 3. Post information about your project to our facebook fanpage, with photo/video & fill out a short survey. Now till June 27.

It can be anything!  You and a few friends can plan a book drive for this weekend. Get your dad involved and help out some neighbors on Father’s Day. Plan a day of sports and fitness for younger kids in your neighborhood to get some exercise.

The New Look Foundation and Usher recognize that youth are global leaders and have the power to change their community. To excite even more youth to get involved as leaders, New Look is happy to reward those with the most exciting and creative projects.

Twenty talented and creative teenagers were selected from over 5000 applicants to be a part of the music video experience. The twenty teens are being divided into two all teen music video crews who will work to create, direct, and produce their own original music video for Usher’s new single.

The program took place in Hollywood & the headquarters for the two crews was located at the Sheraton Universal in California until December 6, 2009.

Brett Bassock might be the luckiest teen alive –- at least in his eyes. In June, he’ll get the chance to fly to Los Angeles with 20 other students from around the country to produce a music video for R&B singer Usher.

“I’m still trying to comprehend this concept that they picked me out of 5,000 kids,” the 16-year-old Wilton High School sophomore told the Norwalk Hour.

It’s not a huge surprise that he would stand out to the people choosing the team to work with Usher.

Bassock has been active in community events like Relay for Life and a Walk for Parkinson’s but he still wanted to do more. So, his teacher recommended he visit dosomething.org, a website that promotes “Powering offline action,” the Hour reports.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime,” Usher said in the promotional video. “I’m hoping for a hot video. … My fans are going to be very, very upset with you if you don’t get it right. But no pressure.”

So, with a few clicks, he went online and signed up to compete against thousands of students across the country to produce a music video for Usher.

“The first time I went on there it said, ‘Direct Usher’s music video,’ and I thought it was perfect because I’m an aspiring director,” he told the newspaper.

When he went for the final interview, he actually met Usher, who congratulated and hugged him.

Two groups of 10 students will make two videos for the singer, both of which will be posted online.

The winners will receive a Macbook Pro, free software and a trip to one of Usher’s concerts.  As for Bassock, even if he’s not in the winning group, he’s still glad he’ll get the chance to work with Usher.
