“OMG” To Be New Single From RVR
“We Are The World 2″ Debuts At #2 On Billboard Hot 100
Despite some big-name detractors, “We Are the World: 25 for Haiti” debuts at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart just days after the all-star charity single premiered during the televised opening of the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
The song, a remake of the Michael Jackson- and Lionel Richie-powered original, was only bested by Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok,” which tops the chart for the ninth straight week.
The “WATW” remake produced by RedOne and featuring the collective Artists for Haiti — a group that comprises a number of musicians and actors, including Jamie Foxx, Justin Bieber, Pink, Usher, Kanye West and Celine Dion, among others — is the latest charity effort to rise on the charts.
The new “We Are the World” video was helmed by Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis, who described the shoot as “chaos” but noted it was a remarkable experience.
“You hear these stories about people checking their egos at the door, and it really is true,” Haggis told MTV News. “They came and stood forever and were glorified extras a lot of the time. They just stood in the corner and waved. It was hot and it was crowded. When there’s chaos, there’s friction. Where there’s fiction, there’s drama, and I knew I’d have fun things to shoot. Unfortunately, there wasn’t as much drama as I expected. People really got along very well.”
“We Are The World” Remake Brings Usher & More Together For Haiti
Twenty-five years after the iconic charity single “We Are The World” was recorded at A&M Studios by the likes of Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles, a new bunch of stars united to re-record the song.
“We Are The World 25 Years For Haiti” was given a bit of a new spin by today’s hottest recording stars like Celine Dion, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Pink, and Trey Songz.
In all, over 80 artists participated in the recording session that took place Monday, February 1 in Hollywood, CA at the very same studio the original was recorded (Jim Henson Studios). Original producer Quincy Jones was responsible for bringing it all together, and one of the song’s co-writers, Lionel Richie, was back for the new song, this time with his daughter Nicole Richie and granddaughter Harlow Madden.
Along with recording the track, a video for the song was shot, in 3-D reports MTV.com, and will be released on February 12. ”The experience was out of this world,” said Bieber, who sang Lionel Richie’s original opening line.
According to a press release from the organizers, both the new version of “We Are the World” and the accompanying video will be available for purchase through a consortium of on-line and retail partners, with all proceeds going directly to the earthquake-relief efforts in Haiti through the We Are The World Foundation, a newly created not-for-profit organization made up of board members Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, Wyclef Jean, Paul Haggis, Randy Phillips and Ambassador Louis Moreno of the Inter-American Development Bank.

Official “Raymond vs. Raymond” Press Release
Album Reveals Different Sides Of The Multi-Faceted Singer
Usher Raymond IV’s highly anticipated sixth studio album, Raymond v. Raymond will be released on March 30th.
Raymond v. Raymond comes as the five-time Grammy winner currently has, or is featured in four chart-topping songs on U.S. urban charts: “Papers” which rapidly climbed to #1 on the urban adult airplay chart last year, remains a Top 5 and 15 staple on both adult R&B and urban mainstream charts respectively; “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” featuring Plies claims the No. 19 spot on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart; “There Goes My Baby” ranks No. 16 on the urban adult contemporary airplay chart; and Raymond’s collaboration with Gucci Mane, “Spotlight,” is in the Top 15 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
Raymond v. Raymond finds the iconic singer addressing various topics reflecting the dichotomies of life. It is described as a natural follow-up to Usher’s ground-breaking 2004 Confessions album which earned him the distinction of being the “Top Hot 100 Artist of the Decade” with 13 consecutive top 20 singles (seven reaching No. 1 and collectively spending the most weeks atop the chart for any act in the decade) according to Billboard magazine. The new album contains the smoldering signature ballads and hypnotic up-tempos the multi-talented, all around entertainer is known for.
Leading up to the release Usher will appear in a number of high profile performances kicking off with the 2010 Grammy’s on January 31st (CBS); followed by a half-time performance on the NBA All-Star Game on February 14th (TNT); and he will headline the final Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Nightly Victory Ceremony Concert on February 27th (NBC).
Additionally, TNT joined forces with Usher to feature his song “More” as part of the network’s marketing campaign for 2010 NBA All-Star. TNT filmed an exclusive music video with Usher that will serve as a promotional spot airing in 600 Regal Cinemas beginning Friday, Jan. 29. In addition, the video will be used as part of the network’s campaign to promote its exclusive coverage of 2010 NBA All-Star Game in Dallas, TX on Sunday, Feb. 14.
MTV will exclusively premiere his “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” video, directed by Chris Robinson, tomorrow (Thursday, January 28th) at 6AM EST.
Another Sneak Peek of “Hey Daddy” (Daddy’s Home)
Another day, another Confession. For his new album, Raymond vs. Raymond, the all-singing, all-dancing R&B sensation, Usher, is going with what got him here (“here” being one of pop and R&B’s biggest stars).
Raymond vs. Raymond promises to have the same intimate, detailed, revelatory feeling of the Atlanta singer’s breakthrough Confessions, as it will likely deal heavily with Usher’s 2009 divorce from Tameka Foster.
But! Before all that sadness and irreconcilable differences, we get the party: the first single and video from Raymond vs. Raymond, “Hey Daddy.”
In this sneak peek of “Hey Daddy,” we get a glimpse of an unburdened and decidedly single Usher, dancing with a gaggle of model-esque chicks (or dancer-esque models, take your pick). There’s a little bit of business taking place at a restaurant as well, but we’ll have to wait for the full version to see what that’s all about.
Stay tuned for the full-length premiere of Usher’s “Hey Daddy” video. Usher’s Raymond vs. Raymond due out in March.
