The Undergraduate Business School Leadership Conference (UBSLC) will bring Usher as its keynote speaker in February to speak about his efforts in empowering youth.

B-School junior and Chair of the Conference Joyce Juang said that because Usher is a high-profile guest, the organizers are considering keeping the speech closed to students outside of the Bachelor of Business Association program.

Each year, the annual UBSLC has a leadership theme, Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Director of the BBA Program at the Goizueta Business School Andrea Hershatter explained. BBA Council members started UBSLC 12 years ago to bring together student leaders from the top tier undergraduate business school programs in the U.S. as well as international representatives.

Hershatter wrote in an email to the Wheel that Usher’s New Look Foundation coincides with this year’s theme of “Future Directions in Leadership,” which encompasses ways to bring generations forward economically and intellectually.

The New Look Foundation has assisted almost 10,000 underserved youth who, upon joining the Foundation, received curriculum-based training based on four leadership pillars: talent, education, career and service, she explained.

Usher will discuss the Foundation’s work in “planting the seeds of future leadership by encouraging and equipping young people to lead now through community service projects and peer mobilization,” Hershatter wrote.

“I believe his vision, which includes starting early, embracing talent in its many forms and providing education, training, mentorship and the opportunity to give back, will resonate deeply with our conference participants,” she wrote. “We could not be more excited to have him as the keynote.”

Identifying a keynote speaker is a year-long process, Juang explained. Speakers are first determined from the Conference organizer’s “wish list” of people. Afterwards, they are matched against the school’s resources, including alumni, corporate “friends,” personal contacts and direct outreach, Hershatter wrote.

“Despite any connections we may have, the ability to obtain a keynote rests with that person and is dependent on his or her desire to reach out to young people through this conference,” Hershatter explained. “Doing so displays a true commitment to the next generation, and Usher is an ideal example of someone who embraces this value.”

Past keynote speakers of the UBSLC include Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, former Chairman and CEO of The Home Depot Robert Nardelli, former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission William Donaldson, CEO of Burger King John Chidsey, Freakonomics author Steven Levitt and CEO of Procter & Gamble A.G. Lafley.

Usher came out to support Justin Bieber last night in NYC when Justin was honored for his charity work with Pencils of Promise.

“I’m so happy to be here supporting Bieber and Pencils of Promise. Adam Braun is really incredible. I’m really happy to see the beginning of something, the story starts somewhere and the dedication continues to help a lot of people, as well as a big role of an organization and he (Justin) grows as a philanthropist.”

He also answered the big question in the room — how does he feel about Justin and girlfriend Selena Gomez?

“I think they’re a great couple.” Does he give him any romance tips?

“You know I’m not an expert at it but you know maybe I have a few tips.”

“You know Justin has it down,” Usher explained. From the looks of it, he’s definitely making a lot of ladies happy.”

Justin may even be the modern day Mozart. “From the looks of it, he definitely has it going in the right direction,” Usher agreed with us. “You guys stay tuned. If you follow him on his Twitter, his Facebook and Google, I think that you guys will definitely become believers.”

Usher, no stranger to his own controversies, had these words for the Biebs: “Stay strong. And know that all of this comes with the territory.”

Aside from the drama, Usher is especially proud of Bieber’s charitable side. His mentor said he “absolutely” knew the kid from Stratford, Ontario, had a big heart from the start.

“To write a check is only half of it, but when you truly take on a responsibility to be a philanthropist, you accept an effort, and I really think that Pencils of Promise is something that has a very bright future.

Usher attended and performed at Alicia Keys’ benefit for her Keep a Child Alive Foundation last night in New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Usher, Keys, and Sambora shared duties in a rendition of Harrison’s “Here Comes the Sun”. The concert raised $3 million for AIDS treatment and care in India and Africa.

Update: On Sunday night, Usher made light of the wardrobe malfunction incident in a statement released exclusively to Yahoo! Music: “The show must go on,” he said about his reaction to the mishap. “I work hard and let it all hang out…. Lol.”

Alicia Keys’ charity will pay tribute to late Beatle guitarist George Harrison with a concert in New York City next month.

Her charity, called Keep a Child Alive, will honor Harrison at its annual Black Ball event for his “philanthropic contributions to India.”

The charity announced Tuesday that Keys will perform alongside Usher, Norah Jones and Will.i.am at the Nov. 3 show at Manhattan’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Mary J. Blige, Gary Clark Jr., Jay Sean and Midival Punditz with Karsh Kale will also hit the stage.

Harrison died of lung cancer at age 58 in 2001.

The event marks the eighth year for Keep a Child Alive, which helps children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

All proceeds from the show will go to the charity.

Keep A Child Alive is running a contest for those who wish to attend. Two prize packages are being offered to donors chosen randomly who donate $10 to the charity and join the Black Ball VIPs. One winner will get 2 tickets for dinner and the performances on the main floor for the concert. 2 second prize winners will receive 2 tickets for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and the performances in the balcony area.
