Usher: Popeater Interview
He’s been burned before, but Usher Raymond is nothing but an optimist when it comes to love. We caught up with the devastatingly charming crooner at Thursday night’s Fifi Awards (think the Academy Awards for fragrance) where he accepted the Male Celebrity Fragrance of the Year award, to chat love, lust and even more importantly, Father’s Day.
You’re a single man now. Are you ready to start looking for love again?
Love is a journey and an adventure. The love I have had in the past has shown me a lot and I have learned a lot. Hopefully when I find the right woman, I’ll be incredible for her and she’ll be incredible for me.
What’s so sexy about creating a fragrance?
It’s the one thing that stays on when everything else comes off. I want the gentlemen and beautiful women of the world to know I am looking for a scent that brings their true self through.
What do you think is the sexiest smell?
Skin. (ed. note: Usher knows how to make the ladies swoon)
Say you’re stuck in an elevator with a fan. What would you chat about?
I would probably look at her and say “You thinking what I’m thinking?” It’s something I haven’t done yet. There’s a few elevator ups I haven’t had yet.
You have two beautiful sons. What are your plans for Father’s Day?
Just being with my sons, taking some incredible pictures and getting some hugs. I would love for them to make breakfast for me, but I don’t think they’re up for that. They’ll make me the best cereal.
The Fragrance Foundation not only gave Usher an award on Thursday, they are also raising money for his New Look charity with an online auction at Charity Buzz, where participants can bid on tickets to a Victoria’s Secret fashion show, an internship with Bath & Body Works and a trip to Bermuda. Unfortunately, the ladies can’t bid on a date with Usher. They can however, try to find him in an elevator.
